July 2017

Sunday Worship in July (2, 9, 16, 23) 10:30 am, Worship Service at the church followed by Coffee Hour fellowship.  *On Sunday July 30 we will all travel to Grace Church in Fairfield to celebrate their 150th Anniversary and together present Nancy Mazzola to be welcomed into the Episcopal Church.

Christmas in July:  All month long we are collecting bottles of lotion for NAMI

Christmas gift baskets for persons suffering from mental illness.  Please bring full size bottles of hand, body lotion or body wash (for man or woman). Our goal is to collect 250 bottles.

July 16, Mission Committee Meeting at the church after coffee hour.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Copies of the agenda and reports will be available on July 9.  If you have an item that you believe should be on the agenda, please call Linda Jensen, 707-3745542 or email: lmjensen.rio@gmail.com

Friday, July 21 –Prayer, Fasting and Advocacy. For Such a Time as This: A Call to Prayer, Fasting, and Advocacy, is the joint statement issued by Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  Please consider joining us in prayer and fasting on the 21st of each month through December 2018, at which time the 115th Congress will conclude. The 21st was selected because 90% of the SNAP (food stamp) benefits across the nation are used up each month by that date.  More ways to help include donating food and money to our local Rio Vista Food Pantry and writing letters and making phone calls to your representatives to request that they support funding for SNAP, Meals on Wheels and school lunch programs.

Thursday, July 27, 10:00 am, Shared Ministry Meeting at the church.  We will continue with our book study, Listening Hearts, Discernment-Chapter 5 and we will begin work on a collage depicting the church’s history and mission for our large bulletin board.  Copies of the book are available in the church library. We are collecting photographs and other materials to use in the collage display.  Please join us.

Sunday, July 30, 9:00 am – Meet at the church to ride together to Grace Church in Fairfield.

If you have questions or need a ride to any of our services or events, please call:  Linda Jensen, 707-374-5542

Please remember to sign up to serve as greeter, to do readings or to provide refreshments.  The clipboards are on the desk in the library area.

Some News and Updates:  Our musical equipment has arrived! The blinds are on order and should be delivered by the end of the month.
